Conversely, we here on Earth have been receiving very similar radio broadcasts from deep space for decades, but have been unable to interpret or explain these interstellar radio signals.

The insistence of the signal, named FRB 121102, made it possible for the world’s most powerful telescopes to discover where it originated, which turned out to be a galaxy three billion light years from Earth.
